Why Lonny Stepped Into Public Office
When Lonny saw the county’s reserves being drained, spending spiralling out of control, and unfair tax increases on the horizon, he knew something had to change
He was frustrated by council members who didn’t listen, government decisions that wasted taxpayer dollars, and policies that threatened the county’s future.
That’s when he decided to take action and ran for County Council at the last election.Â
Since stepping into public office, Lonny has been a lone voice for fiscal responsibility—the first council member in years to vote against a bad budget. He’s fought for smarter policing strategies, fairer taxation, and stronger protections for Red Deer County’s farmland.Â
Lonny grew up on a farm and he and his family grow fruits and vegetables to sell at the local farmer's markets.
